The Plaquemines Parish District Attorney’s Office reports that on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, Kenneth Naquin, age 28, from Metairie, LA, pleaded guilty to Manslaughter before his trial set for April 10, 2024.
Naquin was indicted on Second Degree Murder on July 21, 2022, following an incident that took place on May 11, 2022, in the Myrtle Grove, LA. area Naquin, a dump truck driver, shot Jimmy Fullerton, Jr., another dump truck driver, multiple times in the back and face. PPSO Officers and Detectives apprehended Naquin with the help of two eyewitnesses.
On December 14, 2022, Naquin was found incompetent to stand trial by Judge Michael Clement and was committed to the custody of the Department of Health and Hospitals and be maintained in the custody of Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System, Forensic Division until he is deemed to have obtained maximum benefit from competency restoration.
On September 27, 2023, it was determined that Naquin was then competent to assist his attorney so that his criminal case could proceed. His case was set for trial on April 10, 2024.
Prior to his trial, a plea agreement was reached between Naquin and the State wherein Naquin plead to Manslaughter on March 27th and was sentenced to 35 years at hard labor with the LA Department of Corrections by Judge Michael Clement. Assistant District Attorney Jason Napoli handled the prosecution of the case.
