Plaquemines Parish, LA — December 17, 2025
Zaiden Thompson, an inmate at Plaquemines Parish Detention Center, plead guilty to Battery of Police Officer and was sentenced today to five years in the custody of the Louisiana Department of Corrections (DOC). This sentence will run consecutively with his existing 15-year sentence for a conviction in another jurisdiction.
The additional sentence stems from an incident on May 26, 2025, when Thompson assaulted a correctional officer during a routine security check in the lockdown dorm. Thompson struck the officer multiple times before assistance arrived. The officer sustained facial injuries but was treated and cleared to return to duty.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jason Napoli before Judge Michae
