Belle Chasse, LA – January 14, 2026
Plaquemines Parish District Attorney Charles Ballay reports that on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, a Plaquemines Parish Grand Jury convened and returned a true bill of indictment against Michael Louis Perriloux, age 30, of Saint Amant, Louisiana. Perriloux was indicted on charges of Sexual Battery and First-Degree Rape in connection with an incident that occurred on March 10, 2024.
Initially, the defendant was arrested on July 21, 2025, and charged with Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile. Subsequent to that, additional evidence was obtained by Detective Victoria Barrois of the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office that allowed the District Attorney’s Office to present the case to a Grand Jury to increase the charges against the defendant.

- Sexual Battery is punishable by imprisonment at hard labor for not less than 25 years nor more than 99 years, with at least 25 years served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.

- First-Degree Rape is punishable by life imprisonment without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
Assistant District Attorney Jason Napoli presented the case to the Grand Jury. Judge Michael Clement set bond at $250,000 for Sexual Battery and $1,000,000 for First-Degree Rape. Arraignment is scheduled for February 2, 2026.
