Plaquemines Parish, LA — November 4, 2025
A man accused of attempting to force his way into a Port Sulphur home in 2023 was found guilty today in a trial before Judge Kevin Conner in Plaquemines Parish.
Jajuan Turner stood trial for an attempted home invasion stemming from a December 9, 2023, incident in which he tried to kick down the front door of 59-year-old Rebecca Billiot’s residence while demanding money. According to court testimony and evidence, Turner could be heard on a 911 call threatening harm if he was not paid.
Deputies responded to the scene shortly after midnight and found Turner actively trying to breach the door. He was taken into custody after a brief confrontation and was later charged with multiple offenses related to the incident.
During today’s proceedings, Turner was found guilty as charged. He is scheduled for sentencing and a multiple bill hearing on December 9, 2025.
The case was first chaired by assistant district attorney Sarah Ansardi Tesvich.
The case drew attention due to the violent nature of the attempted entry and the presence of children inside the home at the time. Prosecutors praised the swift response of law enforcement and the courage of the victim in pursuing charges.
