On September 17, 2025, a Plaquemines Parish Grand Jury indicted Terrance Ramont McKinney, 54, from Duck Hill, MS, on multiple charges including Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway, and Aggravated Flight from An Officer Where Human Life is Endangered. The indictment stems from a June 29, 2025, incident at the home of the victim, Ashley Nugent, located on Tau Street in Belle Chasse.
McKinney was subsequently apprehended on the Jefferson/St. Charles parish line before getting on the Bonnet Carre Spillway with the assistance of the Louisiana State Police.
Judge Kevin Conner set McKinney’s bond at $1.1 million for the Second-Degree Murder charge, while the bond for each of the other charges was set at $250,000 each.
Assistant District Attorney Jason Napoli presented the case to the Grand Jury.
